November 06

There's an important shift this month as Jupiter changes signs on November 23rd, moving into Sagittarius for a one year stay. Jupiter has a natural affinity for Sagittarius' expansive, philosophical approach to life. Sag is a born traveler and adventurer who loves to gamble on a long shot and the thrill and challenge of the unknown.

Jupiter's energy is the opposite of Saturn, the planet of responsibility and restriction. Saturn's position shows us what areas we need to work on. Jupiter's position shows where our best opportunities lie and when it changes signs its time to shift our focus to a new sphere.

Belief systems are important to Sag. This is a very political animal and, as we've seen from Pluto's continued journey through Sagittarius, it can be quite extreme in it's views. Once Sag settles on an ideology it wants to convert the world. This can be as benign as a knight in shining armor riding to the rescue or as ugly as a bloody religious crusade.

It's a good bet that the influence of Jupiter in Sag will heat up the current political and religious debates. Sagittarius is associated with ideas about personal freedom and democracy but in practice it seems that it is actually more interested in establishing new power structures that it can head. Get in line with the new orthodoxy. This is the dark side of Sag's tendency to decide what we all should believe, then stuff it down our throats. The key here is to respect other peoples right to choose as much as we cherish our own freedom.
