 Mon May 3rd - Sun May 9th

Monday 5/03 -The day starts on a harmonious note as the Capricorn Moon trines the Sun (4:57 AM). The emphasis is on practical solutions.

Today's Mercury trine Pluto (6:07 AM) is the second of three passes (4/06, 5/03 and 5/19). Mercury/Pluto encourages deep thinking about issues such as; what is the meaning of life? Why am I here? What are my core beliefs and are they still valid? What happens when we die?

Mercury/Pluto is like some cosmic detective out to solve the mysteries of life, sort of a cross between Sherlock Holmes and Sigmund Freud (or Carl Jung, if you prefer). Just like any aspect it has a negative side as well as a positive. Some people will use this energy to manipulate others, distort the truth or to act out their neuroses rather than examine them.

Tuesday 5/04 - Sun square Mars (7:09 AM) is full of energy but is easily frustrated and tends to be angry and impatient. In a hurry for results, people can rashly act against their own best interests. There's a pressing need to take action but stick to the plan and, if the time isn't ripe, find some other outlet for all this energy. Work in the yard, tackle that to-do list or go out and play but, definitely, get some exercise.

The Moon enters Aquarius at 2:51 PM.

Tonight our bodies may be tired but our minds are busy working overtime. A Moon/Mercury square (11:35 PM) will make it hard to get to sleep before midnight.

Wednesday 5/05 - It's a friendly, sociable day. People are in the mood to visit, to touch base and re-enforce the feeling of community and connectedness. (Moon in Aquarius trine Venus in Gemini at 5:11 PM).

A Moon/Mars opposition (8:23 PM) could have the sparks and the pheromones flying in a sensual tango of desire and anger. It could go either way.

Thursday 5/06 - There are no major lunar aspects today so things are pretty quiet. Just after midnight on Friday morning, the Moon conjuncts Neptune (12:37 AM), an indicator of deep sleep and vivid dreams.

Friday 5/07 - The Moon enters Pisces at 3:34 AM.

People are refreshed and revitalized after a restful day yesterday. This morning folks are alert and perceptive as the Moon sextiles Mercury (10:21 AM) and Pluto (2:02 PM).

Venus sextile Mars (3:55 PM) sounds a springtime mating call. This alignment indicates harmony and understanding between the sexes and sets a romantic tone for the weekend.

Saturday 5/08 - It's a lazy day. A Moon/Venus square (12:40 AM) suggests you take it easy and pamper yourself, indulging in those little things that make life so much more enjoyable.

Sunday 5/09 - Early birds, watch for moonrise shortly before dawn. The Pisces Moon will be conjuncting Jupiter at 6:32 AM. This creates a loving and tender mood, getting the morning off to an enjoyable start.

People are extra sensitive under the influence of all this Pisces so feelings are easily hurt. Just before noon the mood suddenly shifts when the Moon opposes Saturn (11:58 AM). Moon/Saturn can be cold, unfeeling and harsh. Moon/Saturn may feel overburdened and become unresponsive in the face of too many responsibilities and emotional demands. Pay attention when that tired feeling sets in and give yourself a break. A little siesta at lunch time will do wonders and put you on the right side of a Moon/Uranus conjunction (2:12 PM) when the energy picks up, motivating us to get out and enjoy the afternoon. Otherwise, if you're tired when Moon/Uranus hits, you'll be cranky and accident prone.

* All times are MDT (Mountain Daylight Time). For EDT (Eastern Daylight Time) add two hours. All aspects in bold are major influences that are in effect for several days. The Moon's daily aspects are rapidly shifting influences that are in effect for only a few hours.

  Mon May 10th - Sun May 16th

Monday 5/10 - The Moon is in Aries but makes no major aspects during the day so things are relatively quiet.

Tuesday 5/11 - The morning hours are happy and friendly as an early Moon/Venus sextile (5:28 AM) begins the day on a pleasant note.

Mercury goes direct (4:27 PM) at 2 degrees of Taurus today so if plans have been blocked or on hold for some reason this should get things moving again.

It's a relaxed and restful evening as the Moon sextiles Neptune at 10:12 PM. Time for an early bedtime.

Wednesday 5/12 - The Moon enters Taurus at 12:48 AM.

People are up and active as a Moon/Mercury conjunction (5:46 AM) kicks our brains into gear even before the sun has risen. There are plans to be made, phone calls, emails, etc. A Moon/Pluto trine (10:15 AM) brings our train of thought to whatever it is we've been preoccupied with or obsessing over while Mercury and Pluto have been winding their way through a recent series of trines (4/06, 5/03 and 5/19).

Thursday 5/13 - Some folks are shooting sparks this morning as a Moon/Mars square (9:42 AM) gets things off to a fiery start. The best way to use Moon/Mars is to get active, though with Mars there is always a tendency to over-do so be careful not to sprain or strain yourself. Cuts and burns are some of Mars' specialties. Please be judicious.

The Moon is New (7:04 PM) at 23 degrees of Taurus. Usually laid back and mellow, the story of Ferdinand the Bull is the perfect archetype for Taurus, but when those Bulls get a bee in their bonnet, watch out! Taurus is riled now as the New Moon squares Mars so we'll have to deal with angry people on and off all month long. Pick your battles; you will have plenty of choice.

Friday 5/14 - Some time during the night a deep level of relaxation conquered yesterday's stresses, so sleep is restful and nourishing (Moon sextile Jupiter at 12:45 AM). Actually all of today's major alignments happen while we sleep so early morning dreams may be particularly interesting.

The Moon sextiles Uranus (6:28 AM) so we embrace the day with eagerness and enthusiasm.

The Moon moves into Gemini at 7:18 AM.

Saturday 5/15 - Energy levels are high as the afternoon is invigorated by a Moon/Mars sextile (4:41 PM). The signs are Gemini and Leo so the mood is spirited and lively.

Look for a lovely Moon/Venus conjunction low in the western sky tonight just after sunset.

Sunday 5/16 - The Moon conjuncts Venus at 4:17 AM and t-squares Jupiter (6:06 AM) and Saturn (8:18 AM) so there's a push/pull as to whether to linger in dreamland or jump up and into action. I recommend savoring a quiet morning. Putter around the garden or sleep in until a gentle Moon/Neptune trine (9:25 AM) eases you into consciousness or go for the long haul and hold out until a Moon/Uranus square (11:06 AM) and the incessant ringing of the telephone demand your attention. Moon/Uranus is high strung and impatient so take it easy if you're out in traffic at this time. The Moon enters Cancer at 11:45 AM.

Interesting conversation is favored by this evening's Moon/Mercury sextile (6:02 PM) making this a good time for dinner with friends. The energy subsides and conversation tapers off as we approach a Moon/Pluto opposition (8:25 PM), an introspective and moody alignment that has people ready for some quiet time.

* All times are MDT (Mountain Daylight Time). For EDT (Eastern Daylight Time) add two hours. All aspects in bold are major influences that are in effect for several days. The Moon's daily aspects are rapidly shifting influences that are in effect for only a few hours.

 Mon May 17th - Sun May 23rd

Last week was relatively quiet. This week is a bit of a rollercoaster ride, up one day, down the next. There are 11 major aspects, most involving either the Sun or Venus. At first glance this looks like fun but Venus is making a grand square with Saturn, Uranus and Pluto. Poor Venus can't stand up against these bullies and is taking a major hit. Venus represents the feminine, the natural world and the arts.

Monday 5/17 - Venus squares Jupiter (4:57 AM). The happy predictions one would usually make for any Venus/Jupiter contact are tempered by tomorrow's Venus/Saturn alignment which is exactly the opposite, so things are rather bittersweet.

Venus/Jupiter may manifest as an urge to go power shopping. This compulsive spending is driven by feelings of sadness or discontent. Venus/Jupiter wants to be positive and projects a happy face while disguising underlying depression or distress.

The Sun sextile Jupiter (6:41 PM) may tip this day into a genuine buoyancy of spirit. This week is deceptive though. Don't be fooled into over-extending yourself until you see what the rest of the week may bring. The Sun/Jupiter sextile does make this a good time to move ahead with plans that have been in the works this last couple of months and energy levels are strong now.

Tuesday 5/18 - Venus squares Saturn (2:18 AM) while we sleep, subliminally effecting both yesterday and today. People need extra demonstrations of love and support now. Venus/Saturn often brings harsh circumstances and limitations into our lives. Try and avoid the self pity that focusing solely on one's self brings. Step outside of yourself and try to see things from a broader perspective. Others are also having a hard time now.

The Cancer Moon trines Jupiter (10:11 AM), so last night's cares and anxieties are swept under the rug for the time being. This morning is harmonious and people make an effort to be considerate and supportive.

The pace picks up when the Moon trines dynamic Uranus (2:35 PM). It's an interesting and enthusiastic afternoon.

The Moon moves into Leo at 3:06 PM.

Venus trine Neptune (4:14 PM) evokes a sympathetic and caring mood. Appreciation of the arts and natural beauty is enhanced.

Sun trine Saturn (6:28 PM) adds discipline, endurance and focus to the mix.

Wednesday 5/19 - Sun square Neptune (12:16 AM) is dreamy, imaginative and unmotivated. Energy levels are low and people will prefer to take it easy today.

Mercury trine Pluto (12:44 PM) is the third of three passes that started back in the beginning of April. Presumably, we've now reached a conclusion on whatever we've been contemplating all this time and are ready to make a decision.

Venus square Uranus (1:42 PM) is an exciting, possibly disruptive, influence. Venus/Uranus is bold and daring and wants to break free from restrictive circumstances.

Venus enters Cancer (7:05 PM).

Thursday 5/20 - Yesterday's dreamy mood continues today as the Moon opposes Neptune at 3:44 PM. People would prefer to blow off any responsibilities in favor of a play day. The Sun sextiles Uranus (3:46 PM) reinforcing yesterday's Venus/Uranus desire to do your own thing. Self expression and independence are highlighted.

The Moon moves into Virgo at 5:58 PM.

A pleasant evening is enhanced by the Moon's sextile to Venus in Cancer (8:05 PM), creating a quiet and homey mood. People would rather invite friends over rather than go out.

The Sun enters Gemini (9:34 PM).

Friday 5/21 - The dust is beginning to settle after a very busy and rather conflicted week. The Virgo Moon trines Pluto (2:21 AM) and Mercury (4:09 AM) while we sleep so recent resolutions settle deeply into the subconscious during the night.

Saturday 5/22 - The Virgo Moon opposes Jupiter (5:09 PM) and conjuncts Saturn (5:14 PM) triggering this evening's Jupiter/Saturn opposition. Uranus is in the mix here too (Moon opposition Uranus at 8:33 PM). Think of Jupiter and Uranus as a unit now as they will soon be conjunct (6/08/10) and are acting together. Jupiter greatly expands Uranus' need for freedom and autonomy. This is a very radical and impetuous influence (think Tea-Party as one example).

This afternoon's Moon/Saturn conjunction is low energy and depressive as we contemplate our limitations. The opposition to Jupiter and Uranus heightens our level of frustration.

The Moon enters Libra at 8:50 PM.

Jupiter opposition Saturn (11:36 PM) is the most important aspect of the week. Jupiter opposes Saturn once about every seven years and will make the usual three passes (5/21/10, 8/16/10 & 3/28/11). Jupiter, the principle of expansion, opposes Saturn, the principle of contraction, creating somewhat of a deadlock or stand-off. This can indicate a period of balance between our desire to expand and the practical, cautious approach that Saturn represents or the Saturn influence may make us overly cautious and afraid, frustrating Jupiter's call toward greener pastures. Personally, where the balance will fall depends on whether we tend to be more Jupiterian (expansive) or Saturnian (conservative) .

Sunday 5/23 - More intensity today as Venus opposes Pluto (9:14 PM). Deep damage can be done under this line-up (Gulf Coast?? Aaaah!). Individually the desire to break free from restriction (Jupiter/Uranus) may cause many to take a slash and burn approach to making changes. Relationships and other responsibilities may be jettisoned in a rush toward freedom. There is a finality to these decisions so think twice.
