Saturn/Uranus & World Events

Jupiter/Neptune, A New Aquarian Ideal

 Mon May 31st - Sun June 6th

Monday 5/31 - Neptune goes into its annual retrograde phase (12:50 PM).

It's a relatively quiet day. Things lively up this evening when the Capricorn Moon sextiles Jupiter (9:41 PM) and Uranus (11:22 PM) giving one last gasp to the party energy before the holiday weekend ends.

The Moon enters Aquarius at 11:08 PM.

Tuesday 6/01 - Another quiet day. A Sun/Moon trine (10:15 PM) sets a harmonious tone for the late evening.

Wednesday 6/02 - A Moon/Mercury square (12:44 PM) makes for a busy talkative midday with lots of phone calls and errands.

Thursday 6/03 - People may feel angry and out of sorts this morning as a Moon/Mars opposition (7:42 AM) gets the day off to a rather edgy and anxious start. A Moon/Neptune conjunction (8:56 AM) muddies the waters with uncertainty and a lack of clarity that makes it hard to discern what are our own issues and what we are projecting on to others. It's easy to be unconscious of our own motivation and in some state of denial.

The Moon moves into Pisces at 11:33 AM.

Tonight's Moon/Pluto sextile (8:58 PM) promotes introspection and self-analysis, hopefully helping make sense of this morning's events.

Friday 6/04 - Today's Mars opposition Neptune (11:54 AM) is the source of yesterday's confusion. As usual, expect one kind of effect personally, another as far as world events are concerned. Mars is an active, self assertive energy while Neptune is the universal, anti-ego principal so their combo is a bit uneasy. They are not natural partners. At its best this combo indicates acting upon one's highest principles, an enlightened activity. At its worst it is deceptive, addictive, even kind of crazy. Mars/Neptune can be the con artist who does something criminal and then puts an altruistic spin on it, the crook masquerading as a saint, the evangelist on the take, etc., etc.

The Moon/Sun square this afternoon (4:14 PM) creates a low level tension. The signs involved are Pisces and Gemini, both of which often have trouble with the concept of an objective reality, that truth is not just what is convenient at the moment. Combined with the Mars/Neptune opposition I sense a whole lot of lying going on.

Saturday 6/05 - It's a pleasant, active morning. A Moon/Mercury sextile (9:25 AM) promotes the kind of interest that gets us out the door to explore our world, even if you're just going out for coffee and a paper, you never know who you may run into.

The energy level drops dramatically this evening when the Moon opposes Saturn (7:36 PM. People are not very out-going now. Time to rest and recharge. Go to bed early or take a good, long nap if you have plans for later in the evening.

The Moon enters Aries at 11:50 PM and things really do pick up. The Moon conjuncts Jupiter (11:49 AM) and Uranus (12:18 AM) and this turns into a wild and crazy night, either you're out on the town or, if you conked out early, you're up again at midnight, working on the computer or shuffling around the house.

Sunday 6/06 - Jupiter enters Aries at 12:29 AM. Jupiter spent most of last year in Aquarius then, starting in mid January, it zipped through Pisces in just a few months. Now it's already entering Aries. What makes this remarkable is that Uranus, the planet of sudden changes and unexpected events has just entered Aries, so this year Jupiter is teaming up with Uranus the way it partnered with Neptune last year. Last year Jupiter was expanding the idealistic, empathic qualities of Neptune, now it's expanding Uranus' radical and daring nature.

Jupiter in Aries is a warrior spirit, combined with Uranus, it's an adventurous daredevil, ready to jettison whatever baggage is keeping it from the total freedom and self expression it yearns for. This summer many people will be ready to let go of a lot in their quest for greater autonomy. All this Aries energy can be aggressive and angry so a tendency toward rage will be a real issue now. Take a chill pill, meditate, do whatever you do to maintain your equanimity. There will be moments when it seems like someone blew a whistle and everybody started smacking each other over the head like some sort of video game or cartoon. Except it's not that funny.

Jupiter and Uranus will both retrograde back into Pisces together later this summer. When they go direct again, Jupiter will be moving ahead of Uranus so this Aries line up will not be repeating itself.

This morning the Moon square Pluto (8:52 AM) makes people rather grouchy and taciturn. Don't expect a lot of breakfast table conversation. Folks are either groggy, hung over or deep within their own thoughts. Give them plenty of time to wake up before the chit-chat begins.

  Mon June 7th - Sun June 13th

Last week was relatively quiet but this will be a wild one. Hold on to your hat.

Monday 6/07 - After eight months in Leo, Mars moves into Virgo just after midnight (12:11 AM).

Monday morning gets off to a smooth start with a friendly Sun/Moon sextile (8:31 AM).

This evening's Moon/Venus square (7:44 PM) is a bit edgy since the signs involved are Aries and Cancer. This is a "steel claws inside of velvet gloves" type of aspect, that honeyed tone of voice with "or else" undertones.

Tuesday 6/08 - OK, here it is; Jupiter conjunct Uranus in Aries (5:25 AM). Hot-headed, volatile and rebellious, this line-up is exciting and potentially dangerous. People are restless and eager for change. Frustrations boiling just below the surface will make folks easily angered and outbursts of rage may be hard to control. There's a strong urge to break free from the constraints and responsibilities that are holding you back from experiencing a greater sense of freedom.

Aries is a fire sign, so think, burning hot. It's going to be a long, hot summer and, here in the SW, we'll probably see some of those massive forest fires that have been so mercifully absent in the last few years. Jupiter is expanding Uranus, the planet of unexpected changes and sudden events. Uranus is also connected with earth changes, particularly earthquakes and volcanoes. We could have some big blow-ups this summer.

There'll be two more Jupiter/Uranus conjunctions between now and next January (9/18/10 & 1/05/11) but these conjunctions will be in Pisces, since both planets will be retrograding back into Pisces for a while. (Jupiter will be back in Pisces from 9/10/10 until 1/23/11 and Uranus will be in Pisces from 8/15/10 through 3/13/11). When they re-enter Aries next spring, Jupiter will be farther ahead of Uranus, so this is the only time the two will be conjuncting in Aries.

The Moon moves into Taurus at 9:41 AM. Today the Taurus Moon will be making a grand trine with Mars in Virgo (11:06 AM) and Pluto in Capricorn (6:07 PM). This is practical, down-to-earth and businesslike, a good influence for savvy business decisions, hopefully grounding the impetuous Jupiter/Uranus conjunction.

Mercury trine Saturn (5:15 PM) is also careful and conservative, adding another note of caution to the mix.

Wednesday 6/09 - Mercury square Neptune (4:40 AM) is spacey and confused and not always exactly upfront. Mercury is t-squaring last week's Mars/Neptune opposition. It squares Neptune today and Mars on Friday. The combination can be very dishonest. On one hand we have the liars and, on the other, the lied to. The best use of this energy is for meditation or any type of spiritual practice and prayer. Pray for planetary healing.

Mercury enters Gemini (11:41 PM).

Thursday 6/10 - Mercury sextiles Uranus (4:29 AM) and Jupiter (7:42 AM), channeling the energy of the conjunction. Self-expression is especially eloquent and fervent now as people open up and speak their minds. Radical decisions are being made.

This afternoon the Moon moves into Gemini (4:11 PM) and promptly joins Mercury (6:31 PM), adding an emotional force to the ideas being expressed now.

Friday 6/11 - Mercury square Mars (7:29 AM) is very forceful in its expression and loves to argue and debate. It seems like there is a firestorm of public expression this week, burning down the telephone lines to your congressman.

Saturday 6/12 - The Moon is New in 21 degrees of Gemini at 5:15 AM. The New Moon embodies all of the week's volatile complexity and this month's events will propel us into a stunning summer.

Venus sextile Saturn (9:18 AM) tends to focus on chores and responsibilities. It looks like there's a long list to attend to today. The energy level drops when the Moon squares Saturn (4:25 PM). Take a nap and get ready for another wild Saturday night. The Moon squares Uranus (8:29 PM) and Jupiter (9:19 PM) and people are letting it all hang out.

The Moon entered Cancer at 7:50 PM.

Sunday 6/13 - Today's major lunar aspects happened while we slept, leaving the rest of the day to a quiet, domestic mood.

* All times are MDT (Mountain Daylight Time). For EDT (Eastern Daylight Time) add two hours. All aspects in bold are major influences that are in effect for several days. The Moon's daily aspects are rapidly shifting influences that are in effect for only a few hours.

 Mon June 14th - Sun June 20th

Monday 6/14 - Venus enters out-going Leo (2:50 AM) so Leos will be looking and feeling great while Venus travels through their sign (6/14 - 7/10). Leo likes to be the center of attention and has a dramatic flair that draws the spotlight.

Venus trines the Jupiter/Uranus conjunction, starting with Uranus (11:21 AM). This brings out the exciting, adventurous side of the conjunction. People are in the mood to have fun, take a mini-vacation and leave responsibilities until the end of the week

It's a very lively Monday night, more like a Saturday. The Moon enters Leo at 9:54 PM and promptly trines Uranus (10:36 PM), conjuncts Venus (11:35 PM) and trines Jupiter (11:46 PM). It's party time!

Tuesday 6/15 - Venus trines Jupiter (2:07 AM) in the early hours of the morning. It's easy to blast a lot of cash impetuously now but it is also possible to have fun without breaking the bank. People are feeling happy and carefree. Turning off the news for a while helps. You are allowed to feel good for no reason at all.

A Mars/Pluto trine (6:09 AM) taps into a vast reserve of energy, adding a super-powered burst to whatever is going on, good or bad.

The Leo Moon sextiles Mercury in Gemini (2:41 PM), encouraging communication of all types. People will be very talkative this afternoon.

Wednesday 6/16 - The harmonious mood continues today with a Moon/Sun sextile (4:27 PM) but things finally begin to wind down this evening when the Moon opposes Neptune (9:24 PM). Time to relax for a while.

The Moon moves into Virgo at 11:41 PM.

Thursday 6/17 - Energy levels are up again this morning as the Virgo Moon trines Pluto (6:53 AM) and conjuncts Mars (8:53 PM), triggering Tuesday's Mars/Pluto trine. This has been a very high-powered week so far. You can get a lot accomplished now.

All this intensity has folks rather wired tonight. The Moon squares Mercury (12:35 AM) just after midnight, making it hard to turn off your brain long enough to get to sleep. Dreams tend to be restless and busy.

Friday 6/18 - We're coming in for a crash landing as the energy shifts. The Virgo Moon squares the Sun in Gemini (10:29 PM) making people critical and argumentative. When the Moon conjuncts Saturn (11:04 PM), we crash as exhaustion sets in. Those with bi-polar tendencies are manic, then depressive, this week. And everyone else is experiencing a bit of this themselves. No party tonight.

Saturday 6/19 - The Moon moves into Libra at 2:13 AM.

This morning's Sun/Saturn square (7:19 AM) continues yesterday's cranky mood. Sleep late and take it easy this morning. Don't try and resolve yesterday's argument now, it will only get worse. A Moon/Pluto square (9:30 AM) may compel us to get into it anyway. Maybe you feel like arguing. You'll get your wish if you pursue it now.

Things sweeten up considerably after noon. A Moon/Venus sextile (1:03 PM) offers an olive branch and everyone decides they just want to get along and enjoy the rest of the day.

Sun trine Neptune (6:23 PM) sets a tone of quiet enjoyment, besides we're just too tired, thanks to Sun/Saturn, to do much else. Sun/Neptune is gentle, meditative and introspective.

Sunday 6/20 - The Libra Moon trines Mercury in Gemini (12:43 PM) so at least our brains are working again. All types of mental activity are favored. This is a good time to write or visit.

* All times are MDT (Mountain Daylight Time). For EDT (Eastern Daylight Time) add two hours. All aspects in bold are major influences that are in effect for several days. The Moon's daily aspects are rapidly shifting influences that are in effect for only a few hours.

 Mon June 21st - Sun June 27th

Monday 6/21 - Today is the Solstice and that means that the year is already half over. How did that happen? The Sun enters Cancer at 5:30 AM so, Happy Birthday, Cancer.

The Moon moves into Scorpio at 6:14 AM.

The morning starts in harmony (Sun/Moon trine at 6:17 AM) but, as we're dealing with the watery, emotional energy of Cancer and Scorpio, the mood is rather introverted and quiet. The Moon sextiles Pluto (1:40 PM) after noon, maintaining the pensive tone.

A very different mood kicks in this evening as the Sun squares wild and crazy Uranus (6:28 PM). We'll be dealing with lots of Uranian energy this week. Actually we're all over the map as the Sun and Mercury, traveling side by side in Cancer, trigger the big t-square we astrologers have been groaning about all year. Saturn is opposing Jupiter and Uranus and together they t-square that planetary heavy-weight, Pluto. Now the Sun and Mercury fill in the missing point in Cancer, turning the t-square into a grand square. On top of this, the Full Moon falls right on top of Pluto.

In astrology, it is when the greatest number of aspects line-up that one expects major events to erupt. So, though this t-square has been building all year, this is the time when one would reasonably expect it to reveal its latent potential.

Sun/Uranus indicates a necessity for change. This is a familiar theme lately since we've recently seen Jupiter conjunct Uranus as both planets moved into Aries. Today's square aspect indicates friction or resistance to the changes that need to be made, as the naturally conservative Cancer Sun clings to the familiar, unwilling to deal with the uncertainty and upheaval that changes might cause. It's a case of preferring the devil you know to the devil you don't know. The discomfort of your current situation is less threatening than facing the unknown territory that actually doing something to improve your circumstances might confront you with. The thing is that Uranus always wins, eventually you will have to make these changes, so it's better to be initiating and directing them rather than waiting for the inevitable blow-up that denial and delay will bring.

Those with birthdays in the first 5 degrees of Cancer, Libra, Capricorn and Aries are being especially affected by all this.

Tuesday 6/22 - It's a quiet day. There are no major aspects today but your instincts may be telling you that there is a storm brewing.

Wednesday 6/23 - Sun square Jupiter (7:21 AM) is exuberant and outgoing but not necessarily straightforward. Sun/Jupiter will tell you everything is great no matter what is really going on beneath the surface. At what point does positive thinking become denial?

There's an undercurrent of uncertainty this morning as the Moon aspects both Saturn and Neptune shortly after 8 AM. Then, just after noon, the Moon moves into Sagittarius (12:10 PM) and an adventurous, even riotous mood takes over as the Moon trines Uranus (1:09 PM) and Jupiter (3:52 PM). People will want to take a long lunch and then disappear into the horizon. Take off and have an adventure .

Thursday 6/24 - An early Moon/Mars square (5:17 AM) may catapult you out of bed this morning eager to tackle the day. Interactions could turn confrontational as Sag/Virgo can be nit-picky and critical.

The mood soothes as we reach a midmorning Moon/Venus trine (10:20 AM). Moon/Venus just wants to have fun and get along.

This is what lies beneath Sun/Jupiter's sunny exterior; a depressive, worrisome Mercury/Saturn square (10:25 AM). This indicates either the concerns you've been hiding or sudden bad news that shows up around midmorning.

Mercury trine Neptune (12:34 PM) may increase the tendency to hide information about what's really going on. At its best, this can be a very spiritual approach to problems as we surrender our fears and decide to trust the perfection of what unfolds before us.

Friday 6/25 - Mercury enters Cancer (4:32 AM) and squares Uranus (10:37 AM). Things are cooking now. From yesterday through early Sunday, Mercury makes five major aspects, among them squares to Saturn, Uranus and Jupiter. Mercury represents our state of mind which is up, down and sideways right now; full of fear one moment, assertive and self-assured the next.

Sun opposition Pluto (12:53 AM) indicates a power struggle or the tendency to abuse the power you have. There are powerful forces at work now. It's King Kong versus Godzilla in a kind of Battle of the Titans.

The Moon enters Capricorn at 8:21 PM.

This is not the evening to go out on the town. The Moon squares Saturn (5:19 PM) so, by the end of the day, people are feeling low energy and dispirited. A Moon/Uranus square at 9:25 PM may make you suddenly feel restless and ready for some excitement but the Moon/Pluto conjunction coming up in the early hours of Saturday may not be the kind of entertainment you had in mind.

Saturday 6/26 - The Moon is Full in 4 degrees of Capricorn at 5:30 AM this morning. This is a difficult Full Moon. It falls on top of tomorrow's Mercury/Pluto opposition which brings out people's neuroses. Expect a lot of unconscious behaviors and outright craziness. Mercury/Pluto can also indicate scheming, plotting and underhanded behavior, ranging from petty lies to world class criminality.

For those looking for that silver lining, Mercury square Jupiter (5:08 AM) will put a positive spin on things. For others, it's about putting your best foot forward no matter what you're feeling inside. For some, Mercury/Jupiter means turning up the volume on what you're trying to say. Shout louder if you're not being heard.

Jupiter aspects do tend to get superseded by influences from heavyweights like Pluto and Saturn.

The energy gets better this afternoon when a Moon/Mars trine (4:53 PM) helps strengthen and rejuvenate us. Get out and get some exercise. Getting out of your head and into your body is grounding and stabilizing.

Sunday 6/27 - Mercury opposition Pluto (1:14 AM) is the only aspect today. It is best used for self-analysis. Take a good look at yourself and be honest. It's not easy but it can change your life.

* All times are MDT (Mountain Daylight Time). For EDT (Eastern Daylight Time) add two hours. All aspects in bold are major influences that are in effect for several days. The Moon's daily aspects are rapidly shifting influences that are in effect for only a few hours.
