The week starts out slowly, gathering momentum as it goes along. Things are pretty quiet until Wednesday, the day of the New Moon, then we have eight major aspects in four days so the pace picks up considerably.

Monday 01/31 - Don't expect much out of Monday. It's a cranky, grumpy kind of a day as we head toward a disappointing square to Saturn (3:40 PM). Energy levels are low and people are unresponsive. Lie low and rest up. Wait until the end of the week to approach people with requests or suggestions.

Tuesday 02/01 - An ethereal, fantastical mood has us focused on other planes, other dimensions as tonight's Venus/Neptune sextile colors the whole day. This dreamy, caring and kindly aspect promotes artistic creativity and appreciation. Venus/Neptune heightens our sensitivity to our surroundings and to other people's emotions. Surround yourself with beauty. Dream big.

This morning the Moon and Mercury conjunct in Capricorn (9:41 AM) so get organized and get some practical details out of the way so you can focus on the fun stuff. By the time the Moon sextiles Uranus (12:32 PM) you want to be free to follow your inclinations. This will be a satisfying and interesting day.

The Moon enters Aquarius at 4:21 PM.

Tonight the Moon sextiles Jupiter (8:12 PM) so the mood is one of contentment and harmony.

Wednesday 02/02 - Venus sextiles Neptune (12:36 AM) just after midnight.

By the time we wake up, the mood has changed. A strong Uranian influence puts us on edge, though that Venus/Neptune sextile is still in the background, softening Uranus' edgy impatience. Venus square Uranus (5:48 AM) is erratic and unpredictable but if we have the freedom to express ourselves, to get radical, even shocking if we feel like it, all should go well. Do your own thing today. Life's an adventure and time is short. Expect to run into someone who's diving off the deep end. Don't take their crazy behavior personally, just step out of the way.

Also this morning, Mercury sextiles Uranus (9:16 AM), encouraging an independent and innovative mindset. Mercury/Uranus is a creative problem solver whose mind works lightening fast, but tends to be impatient with those who think more slowly.

The New Moon in Aquarius (7:31 PM) conjuncts Mars, heating up the political rhetoric. Aquarius has strong beliefs and values and Mars in the mix adds a passionate note to Aquarius' normally detached, cerebral approach.

The New Moon in Aquarius marks the Chinese New Year, beginning the Year of the Metal Rabbit. Usually Chinese and Tibetan New Year's coincide but not always. This year the Tibetans won't be celebrating their New Year's until the New Moon in Pisces on March 5th.

Thursday 02/03 - There are a couple of planetary shifts today as Mercury moves into Aquarius (3:19 PM) and Venus enters Capricorn (10:58 PM), emphasizing the political and practical nature of the dialogue this next month or so.

It's a quiet night. A dreamy Moon/Neptune conjunction (11:12 PM) encourages an early bedtime.

Friday 02/04 - The Moon moves into Pisces at 3:24 AM.

It's a busy day. The Sun conjuncts Mars (9:41 AM) and they both trine Saturn over the weekend. There's a vast reservoir of energy here but the trine to Saturn indicates that there are also big demands on our time and energy that will require much self discipline if we are going to meet all our commitments.

Saturday 02/05 - An optimistic, sunny outlook helps this day go smoothly. Mercury sextile Jupiter (8:30 AM) is a friendly, happy aspect that facilitates communication and makes people more receptive and open-minded.

Sun trine Saturn (11:40 PM) means there's work to do but the Mercury/Jupiter combo makes this a "whistle while you work" type of day.

Sunday 02/06 - This morning's Mars/Saturn trine (10:17 AM) is in effect for about a week (three days before and three days after). Discipline, duty and hardwork are the keywords here. The trine aspect makes all this easier to bear but people do tend to be more stern and uncompromising under any Mars/Saturn influence.

As Venus squares Jupiter (12:39 PM) today, there's a strong desire for comfort and luxury, probably driven by an urge to escape the harsh realities presented by Mars and Saturn. Venus/Jupiter aspects are usually a big boost to retail sales because people tend to spend more money now.

The day takes off in an unexpected direction this afternoon as the Moon conjuncts Uranus (12:13 PM) and Jupiter (9:50 PM). This can be very spontaneous and lots of fun. Take a break from all the busy work and get out and enjoy this lovely day.

Monday 02/07 - The morning is a little edgy due to a predawn Moon/Pluto square (5:05 AM). People are feeling grumpy and frustrated.               

Tuesday 02/08 - It's an active morning. A Moon/Mars sextile (5:16 AM) gets the day off to an early start. Today's mix of Aries and Aquarius generates an enthusiastic mood that keeps the energy going strong.

Wednesday 02/09 - The Moon moves into Taurus at 4:22 AM and pace slows. People are feeeling calmer and more settled. The Taurus Moon makes harmonious trines to Venus (5:32 PM) and Pluto (5:39 PM) bringing out the best in the current situation. Someone is ready to make a commitment.

Emotional pressure grows as the day goes by and we head toward this evening's Venus/Pluto conjunction (6:51 PM). Venus/Pluto feels deeply, passionately about just about everything. There's not much neutral territory right now and its hard not to get carried away by our feelings. Watch out for a tendency to self-sabootage under this influence.

Thursday 02/10 - Things go smoothly enough until later tonight when the Moon squares Mars (9:13 PM) and the Sun (12:16 AM). People can get rather demanding and temperamental if their needs are not being met.

Friday 02/11 - It's a sleepy morning. It's hard to get going before noon when the Moon squares dreamy Neptune (11:50 AM). But things liven up after lunch as the day suddenly gets more interesting. The Moon sextiles Uranus (12:27 PM) and Jupiter (11:04 PM) and a celebratory mood sets in.

The Moon enters Gemini at 3:20 PM.

Saturday 02/12 - There's a very busy, social energy this weekend as the Gemini Moon trines five planets in Aquarius over the next two days. People are primarily focused on community, communication and politics.

Today looks like a time of serious planning and careful consideration as the Moon makes a grand trine with Mercury in Aquarius (7:08 PM) and Saturn in Libra (11:10 PM). Our train of thought turns toward practical matters.

Sunday 02/13 - People are very active this morning as the Moon trines Mars (9:32 AM). This is a mental energy that has our brains spinning with new ideas. People are eager to communicate and the phone starts ringing early.

The trines continue this afternoon spreading a harmonious, cooperative atmosphere (Moon trine the Sun at 1:28 PM). The mood mellows out tonight when a Moon/Neptune trine (7:42 PM) winds things down. It's a relaxing and satisfying end to the weekend. The Moon enters Cancer at 10:49 PM.

Monday 02/14 - Today is Valentine's Day but it's not a particularly romantic one this year. Mercury trines Saturn (1:50 PM) making this a good time to study or do some type of analytical work, but it is harder to communicate, as people are more inwardly focused and may not be very receptive now.

People are prone to getting their feelings hurt as the Cancer Moon opposes Pluto (10:45 AM) and Venus (8:42 PM) over the course of the day. Make an effort to rise to the occasion or face the consequences for the rest of the week.                   

Tuesday 02/15 - The Moon squares Saturn (4:11 AM) in the early hours of the morning and dreams are troubled. People wake up on the wrong side of the bed and it takes most of the day to shake off a gloomy mood.

Wednesday 02/16 - The Moon enters Leo at 2:14 AM.

This morning is cheerful and enthusiastic. A Moon/Jupiter trine (10:30 AM) warms our hearts and energizes the day. Reach out to others, you'll get a receptive response.

Thursday 02/17 - The week takes on a dreamy tone as we head toward a big line-up around the planet Neptune. Neptune's influence begins with today's Sun/Neptune conjunction (2:58 AM). This mystical, idealistic alignment is full of beautiful dreams or sadly self-deluded. There is a lot of illusion where Neptune is involved, so things are not necessarily what they seem this week. As they say,"You're entitled to your own opinion but not your own facts". People are coming up with a lot of their own facts right now so you might want to do a little fact checking before making any big decisions.

The tone may get a bit heated later today when the Moon opposes Mercury (3:35 PM) and Mars (8:31 PM). Disagreement devolves into passive/aggressive bickering rather than out and out confrontation.

Friday 02/18 - Just after midnight, the Moon is Full in 29 degrees of Leo (1:36 AM). It's a magical Full Moon. Anything is possible under a line-up like this (Mercury, Mars, Neptune and the Sun all within 6 degrees). Don't forget to wish upon a star. Like the song says, "You got to have a dream. If you don't have a dream, how you gonna have a dream come true?" So formulate your wish. What do you want?

The Moon enters Virgo at 2:39 AM.

Venus square Saturn (12:21 PM) highlights feelings of lack or loneliness that have been hanging around the last 10 days or so. This makes it hard not to obsess about what we don't want to happen instead of putting energy into what we would like.

The Sun enters Pisces at 5:25 PM.

Saturday 02/19 - There's a sweet mood this morning as the Virgo Moon trines Venus in Capricorn (6:27 AM). These earth signs want to be of service and are on the look-out for a way to do something nice for a loved one.

Sunday 02/20 - The Moon moves into Libra at 2:01 AM.

What a day! This is good day for a personal revelation. You're up on the mountain and suddenly there's this burning bush and the next thing you know, you're coming down the mountain, tablets in hand. But this is not about rules, it's more about a boundless connection with all living beings, a vast and cosmic consciousness. Either that or being stoned out of your mind. Or a raving lunatic. You might run into a few of these this weekend; looneys, stoners and a bodhisatva or two.

So the line-up is Mars conjunct Neptune (9:19 PM) and Mercury conjuncting them both (Mercury conjunct Mars at 3:44 PM and Neptune at 6:08 PM). This can be so spiritual and mediumistic or so crazy. If you're ever going to start spontaneously channeling a past life, today's the day.

This is a transcript of a weekly spot I do for a local radio station, KVOT 1340 AM Taos, at 8:35 AM on Friday mornings . . .

There's been a shift into Pisces over the past week as the Sun, Mercury and Mars all moved into the sign of the Fishes.

Today there's another powerful line-up going on but quite different from last week's focus on Neptune. Now, the planet Pluto is being highlighted by a series of alignments, the key one being a square from Jupiter. Jupiter square Pluto is about power, about who's got it and who doesn't. Under this aspect those with power won't hestitate to rub your nose in it. That's because Jupiter/Pluto is associated with the selfish use or abuse of power.

Also today, the Sun and Mercury conjunct in Pisces and they both sextile Pluto. Mercury is clever and thoughtful, sextile Pluto there's usually a plan in the works. But Mercury/Pluto tends to be very subtle or covert about its plans. Combined with the Jupiter/Pluto square, a major power play is in the works.

Aries
You're engaged in a power struggle with the powers that be. Your enthusiasm and energy have positioned you up front and, somewhat to your surprise, you've emerged as a leader. You believe in fairness and justice and nothing gets you angrier than seeing these principles violated.

Taurus
You're re-examining some long held beliefs. You don't change your mind easily but, even though you're keeping your real feelings under wraps right now, there's a lot going on beneath the surface. Someone is taking the wrong approach as you don't take kindly to being pushed.

Gemini
Friendship, money and sex, these are areas of contention for you right now. Someone is pulling a power trip, testing the extent of their influence. A selfish move is being presented as something idealistic and altruistic. If you're confused about what to believe, pay attention to what is being done, not what is being said. It's about actions, not words.

Cancer
There's a division between family members shaping up as relatives take different sides on a key issue. You're in a leading role, speaking up for what you believe is right and showing the way through example. Persuasion, not coercion, is the best approach.

Leo
Someone at work is pulling a power trip. It's based on ideology not practicality. Just because it looks good in theory doesn't mean it will actually work. New rules are being laid out but no one seems willing to take responsibility for the outcome.

Virgo
Someone is having major boundary issues, pushing the limits of acceptable behavior. It's time to have the "improper touching" conversation with the kids. Keep the lines of communication open so you can stay informed of what is really going on.

Libra
Home and relationship are areas of contention for you right now. A free-wheeling character helps you see an old problem from a new perspective, shedding a new light on an old issue. You're ready to approach work with a different attitude and new expectations. You want your work to reflect what you really believe in.

Scorpio
You're starting to wonder if you're going to be required to take some kind of loyalty oath. Is someone requiring blind allegiance as well as obedience? Freedom of expression is a big issue for you right now. If certain topics are off limits, there's a control trip going on.

Sagittarius
A loved one may be trying to get you to spend money you simply don't have. Resources are limited right now and that may be hard for a youngster to understand. Meanwhile you need to re-examine what your financial priorities really are.

Capricorn
You're trying to exert some authority on the home scene, where things seem to have gotten out of control recently. This is not being well received and you may have to re-consider your approach. Is there another solution that you haven't considered?

Aquarius
You're quite eloquent and persuasive these days and people are paying attention to what you've got to say. The ideas you're expressing are universal and your enthusiasm is contagious. You're skills as a recruiter have people lining up on your side of the aisle.

Pisces
It's birthday time and you're feeling energized. You've found your voice and self expression is a priority this week. Someone close to you is attempting to exert too much control and trying to cramp your style. Personal freedom is a big issue for you right now.
